Using Sandtray in Supervision

When: On-Demand
Instructor: Heather Maritano
Non-Contact Hours: 2 CEs
Prerequisites: None

Description

This 2-hour self-guided, non-contact webinar utilizes two short readings and a full clinical demonstration of a sandtray supervisory session to illustrate the benefits of using this process in clinical supervision while also addressing the power of expressive means to enhance supervision experiences in more general terms.

Anyone with an interest in sandtray, regardless of use in supervision, should find value in witnessing this process as we so rarely have an opportunity to see a full “live” session. It is more the case that learn from images and narrative review without access to body language, pacing, and vocal tones.

Objectives

  • Identify multiple rationales for using sandtray & other expressive means in clinical supervision;
  • Identify cautions in the use of sandtray and other expressive means in clinical supervision;
  • Describe ways to enhance cohesion and safety in group supervision;
  • Describe key aspects of supervisor-supervisee interactions;
  • Assess the use of sandtray for identifying clinician countertransference;
  • Assess the use of sandtray in reestablishing clarity of the clinician’s role;
  • Assess the use of sandtray in facilitating productive case direction;
  • Demonstrate deeper understanding of the power of sandtray for insight;
  • Revise or solidify aspects of one’s own facilitation in both supervision and sandtray.
